東京駅を出て、新幹線に乗り換えなし。
かつては「少し遠い日本海側」という印象のあった福井が、今ではぐっと身近な旅先になりました。
北陸新幹線の延伸で移動は驚くほどスムーズ。今回は総勢13名の団体で、福井に一泊二日の旅へ出かけてきました。
目的は二つ。
戦国大名・朝倉氏の城下町がよみがえった一乗谷朝倉氏遺跡と、曹洞宗大本山の永平寺。 そして夜は、ホテル最上階で味わう越前蟹のコース料理と福井が誇る地酒・黒龍という、ちょっと大人な贅沢プランです。

福井駅に到着後、最初に向かったのは一乗谷朝倉氏遺跡。 戦国時代、約100年にわたって朝倉氏が治めた城下町の跡地で、日本でも屈指の大規模遺跡として知られています。武家屋敷や町家が再現され、単なる遺跡ではなく、「歩いて体感できる歴史空間」として、きちんと磨き上げられている印象を受けました。

二日目は、今回の旅のもう一つの目的地、永平寺へ。 曹洞宗の大本山として知られ、今も多くの修行僧が厳しい修行を続ける場所です。 広大な伽藍を巡る中で感じるのは、凛とした空気と圧倒的な静けさ。坐禅体験も受けてきました。

We departed from Tokyo Station and traveled directly to Fukui by Shinkansen, without any transfers.
Once regarded as a distant destination on the Sea of Japan coast, Fukui has become significantly more accessible with the extension of the Hokuriku Shinkansen, offering a smooth and efficient journey. On this occasion, a group of 13 participants enjoyed a well-balanced, one-night, two-day program in Fukui.

The itinerary focused on two key cultural highlights.
The first was the Ichijodani Asakura Clan Ruins, where the former castle town of the Asakura family—one of the most influential warlord clans of the Sengoku period—has been carefully restored. The second highlight was Eiheiji Temple, the head temple of the Soto school of Zen Buddhism.

In the evening, the group was treated to an exclusive dining experience at a Japanese restaurant located on the top floor of the hotel. A full-course menu featuring Echizen crab was served, accompanied by Kokuryu, one of Fukui’s most prestigious local sake brands, providing an elegant and memorable culinary experience.
